I was born in Scotland but spent the first ten years of my life, during the sixties, in a small town called Lively just outside Sudbury Ontario.
My mother had a pair of swans that she cherished. My father always referred to them as “ those bl#*dy ducks “ .We moved back to the UK in 1970 and apparently my mother carried the swans in her hand luggage rather than shipping them with everything else.
My daughter Fiona, very much into ebay at the time, suggested I have a look for BMP on ebay and so it began. Within a few weeks I had my first pair of swans. Every time I look at them I am reminded of my mother.
During my search for the swans, I got into the whole ebay thing. I found out that there was a lot of BMP out there and I quite liked it. Fiona persuaded me to join her on a day out at an antiques fair. I didn’t expect to find any BMP and couldn’t believe my luck when within twenty minutes of arriving I came across a pristine ROMAR piece, Serenity. It even had its original certificate. That was it, I was now officially a Blue Mountain Pottery collector.
